Two weeks until WCT:

Monday: Worked from 8 to 5. Pretty exhasuting and tough day. We started with pulling weed in the frontyard of Kennedy house, brin ging in stones and rocks. It looks so great now. Mario and I are some gardeners, for real. I should attach some pictures from before and after, but unfortunately I didn´t make any. Anyway after work shift I was happy to cook, eat, enjoy a beer and watch a movie.

Tuesday: Same procedure as yesterday. We just continued with pulling weed, making the frontyard look great. Not that interesting, but what I like about work like this is, that u can actually see the progress u make and this motivates u. Especailly u are looking forward tot he beer after work, this motivates u even more xD

Wednesday: We pulled weed in the rhubarb field, started with pulling weed in the backyard of the house  and I used the weedwhacker to bring the property a bit in shape, especially in the areas where the customers will be most of the time. Kennedy wants to open the farm for customers and tourists beginning in june. So there is still a lot of work to do until then. I hope the next days will be more interesting and a bit different, because  so far we almost just pulled wees the whole time.

Thursday and Friday: We finished the backyard, I used the weedwhacker fort he rhubarb field. We are probably gonna harvest it next week. Further there is not much to tell you about the work. I mean I am happy to earned some money on these two days.

Friday evening was really cool. First of all I have to say that Kennedy bought himself a smoker on Friday noon. He installed it in the backyard and put some ribs, chicken and steak on it while we were working. Every couple minutes a smell got caught by my nose…unfair, but we were lucky. Kennedy invited us to watch his team Edmonton Oilers against Winnipeg in the Hockey Playoffs.

Good to know: Canadiens don´t say IceHockey!! They just call it Hockey😊

We still had a 30 liter keg with beer. It hasn´t been completely full, but we finished it this evening. TBH I don´t remember the last time I drank that much. Must been before Covid. Anyways, Winnipeg won, Edmonton lost, but our mood was (obviously) still great. We had a chat until 11:30pm with Kennedy outside on the porch. We talked about everything and If I say everything, I mean it. Was really cool. Kennedy is to me more like a buddy than my boss. Looking forward tot he weekend and then the last week on the farm.

Saturday and Sunday: On Saturday we didn´t do anything. I had two phone calls with family and friends and I had to take care of my hangover😊 On Sunday we did quite lot. Planning our journey, the West Coast Trail, our stay in Victoria. We tried our tent, I went for a run (finally again) and in the evening wem ade porc Schnitzel with potatogratin and asparagus.

Tomorrow we will have one more day off, we will work from Tuesday to Thursday and that´s it. Some more planning and finally on Monday we will leave the farm for our upcoming adventure: THE WEST COAST TRAIL! I have to admit I am a bit scared, because I think it is goinna be really tough, but I will enjoy the adventure and Liesa, Kathy, Mario and I are gonna push ourselves to the limit. Teamworks makes the dreamwork 😊

Greetings from Canada,
Tom
