Eintrag 7: seventh week update

My Snowman „Alfred“⛄️

Monday till Wednesday: Soooo booring… just the word boring. Nothing happend. Went on Wednesday to Coburg with Christa. Tim Hortons, buying Dog food…

Thursday: Had my day off. Talking to Lili, my parents, did some sport, washing my clothes, cleaning my room… Hopefully the weekend is going to be busier, but you´ll never know.

Saturday: The day was busier than the week days. I´ve worked a lot in the Café. Happy about that, because having contact with some Canadiens or people from somewhere else than the farm is beautiful. Evening…I had to cook… And I did „an extraordinary job“ – Shain Jeff. I made salmon in the oven, together with a lemon sauce, asparagus, broccoli, bruxelles sprouts and mashed potatoes. Happy u all liked it.

Dinner on Saturday😋

Sunday: The end of the week. The best day of the week. I started with barn chores, business as usual. Then we build up the portable fence on the padio outside the Café. Why? It started snowing at 9am, so the goats don´t wanna go for the Shmurggle (goat walk, which can be booked). Solution… we are doing the Shmurggle on the padio, so we built up the portable fence. Afterwards I´ve been on the Shmurggle together with Linzie, a worker which comes on the weekend for our experiences. Beautiful snow walk. The rest of the day I´ve been in the Café, took my lunch break at 1pm, ate a BLT and worked until 4. At 3:30 we almost had 15cm of Snow, so I had to took the tractor, clearing the driveway, so that cars are capable of driving tot he farm. Funny thing and cool experience. I could have never imagine doing stuff like this when I´m in Canada at an age of 19. Later on we went for a gorgeus snow walk in our forest. We had a snowball fight, made a snow angel and I built Alfred. My Snowman. So happy to get to know the candien winter. Last time when I saw snow like that, Barack Obama was leading the presedential election. I guess I´m really excited about snow now, but in a few months or week, I´m glad when I don´t have to see it anymore.

Winter Wonderland in 🇨🇦

Not a lot of stuff happend this week. Just the basic farm things, which I haven´t mentioned, because u already know about it. Looking forward to next week. To all my reader in Germany and everywhere else. STAY SAFE AND HEALTHY. I would love to hear about u and ur current situation.

All the best,

Tom

Eintrag 6, sixth week update:

Lina Bergmann and Tom BB:)

Tuesday: A day which can be described with two words: Cleaning poop!!! – Starting the day with barn chores (means feed the goats, clean the barn and so on), then weh ad to do the Barn Clean Out. This means we put the goats and the chicken into another shelter, so that we can clean the whole shelter of them. Bringing the poop away, then bringing new straw in there. This takes always aat least two hours. So we finished at 12. I took my break and then time has come. After lunch, Time for the farmer Tom. I was allowed to take the tractor. Normally noone gets permission for that, but Debbie trusts me (I think so), so she explained me how things are handled and then I cleaned the whole horse paddock on my own. Well, I mean Liesa and Kathy helped me, becuase u cannot do the whole horse paddock on your own. This took approx 2 hours. Then work was done. This day was so cool, because a dream of my childhood came reality. Driving a tractor, cleaning horse poop with it…awesome! No, for real…it has been really cool. I get to know a lot of different stuff here, I´m learning every day something new and gaining a lot of experiences. I would say one of my best days here in Canada yet. But the day wasn´t over. In the evening Christa drove with us to Tim Hortons (I already fall in love with it – like every Canadien loves it). I took a frozen lemonade Smoothie – Recommendation for everyone…then we went to a LCBO Store (a Store where u can buy alcohol – because alcohol can just be bought in extra stores here in Canada). I bought to sixpacks of beer, Lina said tom e why don´t you buy three, then you would have some on stock, but I was like: Why, I already have three, if I´ll buy two😉

East Beach Port Hope – Sunset 🌅

Wednesday: A cool day too. I was allowed to do some more stuff with the tractor. I already posted something on Instagram about it. Then we went on a walk. Nothing important. Just telling u that tractor stuff again. I really love driving it😊

Thursday: Cool day, Actually the day was extremely boring. We made the alpaca enclosure Christmassy and then made videos and photos for the social media accounts of Haute Goat. It was fun to watch Tiny Tim (our pony), Piper and Molly (our two goats), Milo and Arya and the alpacas standing together in the enclosure. Afterwards, however, the funny part of the day actually came. In the morning I had to test my manual skills. I built a fertilization staircase for our goat Bock Theo. Feta our only Egyptian goat is currently in Heat (which means she is willing to mate). We wanted to cover you with Theo. The problem is Feta weighs 30 kilos more than Theo and is two heads bigger than him. This means he can’t reach her thing with his thing. Tom built the stairs so that Theo is higher than Feta and can reach it. The four of us stood in the enclosure and pressed Feta against the wall, put the stairs behind it and pulled Theo up there by his horns, but every attempt didn’t work. The two of them just couldn’t get it right. After an hour of trying every method, we gave up. My fertilization ladder was broken (thanks to Feta, Theo and Sandra), Feta was not pregnant, but despite our failure, I am proud to have had such a great experience. Helping two animals to mate. Holding up Feta’s tail, rubbing my body and Theo’s body (male goats pee on themselves because the smell is supposed to be attractive to the goats) and building a staircase for two stupid animals. An all around beautiful day. The end of the song: We all went into the house smelling of goat pee and showered for 30 minutes each. I think I’ll throw the clothes away.

Milo – our Puppy 🐶

Friday: Boring day… Well, acutally I had my day off…I talked to my parents. Happy to see them, I still miss them. But nothing else happend. Just writing my blog, a letter for a good friend and starting a new series – Peaky Blinders. Currently I am not convinced by it, but maybe this is going to change…

Weekend: Saturday, normally our busiest day the week, but this week it wasn´t busy. I was happy to receive a wonderful letter from a girlfriend of mine. Toronto is going tob e a red zone from today on. That means everything is closed… it is similiar tot he current situation in Germany. Fort hat reason I decided that I won´t go together with Christa to Toronto on Sunday evening. I really cannot do there anything. Anyways, work was boring. But after work we drove to Port Hope. Christa, Lina, Sandra and me. The reason we went there was that Christa wanted to take a longer walk with Bakiri and I wanted to go swimming. Yes you heard right… I went swimming in the lake Ontario. It was really cold. Really cold. I guess it´s obvious that it´s cold, i mean it is November in Canada… However afterwards I really loved it. I directly got flashbacks. I always went swimming together with my dad in the north sea, I enjoyed it every time and I´m really upset or sad that I had to go swimming on my own without my dad. Normally this is our father and son „thing“ – hopefully we´ll to i tone day on Vancouver Island if u and Mom are going to pick me up here. One more thing… Maybe I will attach a picture of me swimming in the Lake Ontario. And I think I´m going to use every oppurtunitie of swimming in Canada, no matter how cold it is, where it is, what weather it is…..

Old, lost Gas Station…

Sunday: Lazy, not busy day… Ok we had a storm above us for the whole afternoon and the whole night, but nothing else…

Swimming in the Lake Ontario – Minus 5 degrees 🥶

Eintrag 5 – Woche 5 in Kanada:

Monday/Tuesday: Exhausting day, but also boring. Because we´re closed, we haven´t had a lot of stuff to do. So I can´t tell u something. I think the week is gonna be so boring and nothing interesting to tell will happend. But let´s have a look.

Wednesday: A new Wwofer or Girl came from germany today. Her name is Kathy. We don´t know a lot of her. But I guess we´ll get to know more about her the next few days. I just knoe that she´s from Germany, from Hannover and is 35 years old. Not a lot, I know, but I will give u an update if I know something else.

Thursday: I know more and more how things are handled on the farm. Especially in the Café. I like. Working together with other people, talking to Canadiens – I missed this. Nothing more happend. Or there is nothing interesting to tell u about. Anyways, looking forward to the next days. Friday is my day off.

Friday: A lazy day, a lazy Tom. Talked tom y parents, played Skribbl together with Finn and Lukas. Watched my series, went for a walk. Boring!!!!

Saturday and Sunday: Two awesome days. I´ve been a lot of the time in the Café. For that reason I had a lot of contact to Canadiens. We talked a lot, and it was so suprising form me, that all Canadiens directly know where I´m from, just because of my accent. Well, some of them also say Austria or Switzerland, but a lot are coming tom e and directly say: „Where u from, I guess Germany“ – Unbelievable! Besides this I´ve been on my first Knuffle. Knuffle means you´re going with our 8 female alpacas on a walk on the farm. After this you can take some pictures, selfies with them and can hug with them in the shelter. It is really cool doing this stuff and especially to have a look behind the sxcenes. I have to preapre the Knuffle, take care of Shadow. Our Baby-Alapca. She´s always running or coming with us on the walk without a leish. I have to take care of her. Currently I´m sitting here on a bench, relaxing with a beer, writing my blog during sunset. Tommorow I´m already five weeks in Canada. Time passes! However, I´m gonna be here completely alone tomorrow on the farm. The Girls are going with Linzie (a worker on the farm, who´s doing the Shmurggle´s and Knuffle´s) tot he Niagara Falls. I wasn´t asked, because Linzie would like to do a girls Trip, but I don´t care, just because I wanna go there on my own after my stay on the farm. So I will go there anywhere.

So all in All this week hasn´t been so busy. Just the weekend, a lot of people came to the farm. But I like it, if it is busy. Time passes more. Looking forward to next week. Not sure if I will be able to tell u something interesting. Well, I will recognize this next week. A short Outlook for next end of the week. I´m gonna spend one night on Sunday in Toronto. It would be awesome if someone of you can give me any advices about what I could do there. I would love to do the edge-Walk at the CN Tower, but I´m not sure if the Tower is closed, because of Covid. Anway, let me k, what I should do and what u would like to k from me.

Best greetings from Canada, stay healthy…

Tom

1 month in Canada

Today I´m officaly one months in Canada. A month with already had a lot of experiences and adventures. I mean it felt like I was 24/7 on the farm, but I still experienced something. This just give u a short review of my first months. Well, What can I tell u about Canada, about Canadien Culture, my year abroad?

If you´re here, you would be suprised how nice and kind the canadien people are. UNBELIEVABLE! Everyone is helpful, talks to you, even if u don´t know each other. Some of you would say that you also got that in germany, but NOOOOO! I guess it´s hard to express this with my words. You have to experience it on your own. Anyways, I love the Canadiens. I mean there totaly racist (especially towards Indian or asian people, african people, u don´t see here a lot of black people), but they love Germans. I d k why but it is like that. Good for me. Even if they´re racist, they´re open, helpful and just amazing. I like this attitude, not that they’re racists, just the positive things of them. Maybe because it´s a bit similiar to myself ( I mean just the positive sides, like especially open and “markant” – just so that u know)😉

The first 30 days in this incredible country were breathtaking. I was one day in Toronto, one evening (on Halloween) in Port Hope (which was so cool). I had some interesting farm work to do. Got to know canadiens, canadien lifestyle. Saw the Indian Summer, snow, the fallen leaves (Greetings to everyone, who loves this song as well) and had some nice walks with cool people. I´m happy to be able to call Liesa, Cora, Lina, Sandra my friends. I will definitly a bit sad when they´re all leaving the farm. I love the special character of Shain, the conversations with Christa and the Ailment of Debbie. I love meeting new people, love to get to know something about them, get to know differetn characters and I wouldn´t say that I would have a problem to meet and to get to know new people.

Finally, my first month in Canada was breathtaking, amazing, beautiful and helpful. But not everything was perfect. Of course not. There were also different bad or shitty situations…

For example the 29th of october. My birthday… First time in my life that I didn´t spend it with family and friends. It definitly was a akward and also „sad“ day. Then there were the time in the trailer and there especially the first 4 or 5 days. I felt seperated and excluded, because of Covid and Quarantine. I was not sure, if the decision of going abroad had been the right decision. I missed my parents, friends and some other activities like „Doppelkopf“ with my friends, going tot he gym, spend some nice evenings on the weekend with my friends. Another point is and was that you´re here just for working. It feels like that. I mean one day a week off – 8 hours working every day. PUHHH – that´s hard. But I love the time off from work. Sitting together with all people, common dinner, common game evenings, drinking beers, laughing, having fun, to each other also times in the pan and at the end simply realize what a horny time one has here. I enjoy every second here. I enjoy my current life.

Finally: Despite lonely and sad moments, I am very happy to be in Canada and to spend a horny 😉 year abroad with lots of adventures.

Greetings,

Tom

Eintrag 4, vierte Woche:

Monday and Tuesday: We are always closed on Monday and Tuesday. That means, that nothing happens on the farm. So, I didn´t do a lot. Currently it´s Monday evening and I´m planning what to do at my birthday and my day off. Saturday is Halloween. I would like to go tot he city after work. Canadiens love Halloween and especially in Port Hope (the city where the film „it“ was produced) it must me awesome. Hopefully we will go on Saturday there, so that I can tell you something more special and cool stuff about the week. But step by step. One more thing. Today I received a package, I was completly confused, until I realized that it came from my parents. Awesome😊 They sent it to me as a birthday present. I´m already looking forward to open it on Thursday. Glad having parents who are so cool. So in Germany we say „doppelt hält besser“ – so thanks Mom and Dad. Love it, whatever is in there. Another thing…the week is getting better and better by every day. Tody I received an answer to my application for a dual study…the answer: Yes we will take u😊 So happy. Then Thursday birthday, Saturday-we´re gonna go to Port Hope to „celebrate“ Halloween. I love seeing the „Canadien-Halloween-Culture“ then.

Wednesday: Nothing happend. Working until 4, then I slpet for 2 hours. Dinner. Bed. Got a little cold. That´s bulls*it.

Thursday: It was 00:00, I woke up… I thought, what’s going on, because all I saw was something burning. After a short time I realized that they were candles. Besides, I noticed that not firemen, as I thought at first, were standing in front of me, but Lina, Liesa and Cora and on top of that they were singing. Right…it was my birthday. I was really happy about the surprise. Especially because I had somehow panicked before my birthday. Without family, without friends – nothing that cool. Anyway, in the end it turned out to be a really cool day. I had to work, had a lot to do, but I was still able to enjoy my birthday. During the lunch break I had talked to my parents on the phone for an hour and unpacked the package they had sent me. The best part was the Astra. I am so happy to be able to drink the best beer in the world again. Unfortunately only one. But I had saved this one for a very special occasion. It was for the derby…

Friday: My day off. I talked to two friends on the phone (greetings to Zoe and Moritz, it was really great to see you again), started a new series (ladies’ gambit: highly recommended) and then I watched the Derby at half past two. I was excited, super cool game and a performance-oriented 2:2, so Hamburg stays brown and white. Afterwards I went for a walk with Liesa at the sunset. A successful day. My cold is almost gone. YEAH! Anyways, tomorrow evening we are going to Port Hope, celebrate halloween… see how that goes. I am happy

Saturday: Saturday was not the best day of the week, but I liked it the most. I worked until 4pm. Then we went to Port Hope. Awesome, finally I was able to leave the farm and to see something else😊 Who is we? Liesa, Lina and Sandra went together with me with car to the 16000 inhabitants city. It is really a small and cute city. First of all we went tot he beach, taking some nice pictures during sunset. We walked a bit around, I mean the beach was so small and it was so cold – so the walk wasn´t so long. Afterwards we went tot he city hall, parked the car and we walked through the streets of Port Hope. Hopefully you all might know the film „IT“ – it was produced in this city. So it was awesome to see the different sets of the film. I remembered and recognized a lot. After that we went to a small pub. It´s called „The thirsty Goose“. I drank a beer and ate „Poutine“ – typical for Canada. We listened to some live music and had a wonderful evening. Before I forget it… – it was Halloween. So we saw a lot of people, who were dressed up. After the pub, we made some pictures with Pennywise – you could get some for a donation – so we did it. It was so cool to take pictures with the main character of the film „IT“ in the city where it was produced. Then we went back tot he car and drove to a famous house in port Hope. The two owners are crazy. They love Halloween. So their house looks a bit like a Halloween-House from everyones dream. Awesome how much work they put in it. Finally we went back home, and saw the film „IT – I guess we had to. This was my fourth week in Canada. Already 1 month abroad…

There will be an update tomorrow. „MY FIRST 4 WEEKS IN CANADA“

See u.. Tom

three weeks in Canada

Neue Woche, neue Neuigkeiten:

Toronto – New City Hall

This week is gonna get awesome guys. There will be a lot I will tell u about. So let´s begin with the first day of the week.

Monday: Monday was a calm day. Every Monday and Tuesdays, the farm is closed. Fort hat reason we don´t have any visitor coming tot he farm. So we don´t have to wear a face mask. I´ve worked until 4 pm, we cleaned the whole barn. This was exhausting, but now it looks clean. The special thing while my mid-lunch-break was that we all ate together in the house. Yeah, you heard right. IN THE HOUSE. Monday was my last day of quarantine, so I was allowed to go into the house. We ate together, then they showed me where I can find everything nad we made a short roomtour. The best thing was, that I was able to see the pupy. He´s so sweet. OMG.

However, after work I watched the last 20 minutes of St.Pauli against Nürnberg. The result: 2:2. Then my time came. Time to get all my stuff into the house, into my new room, the „Kings Size Room“ – I would say the name matches perfectly. I left the trailer behind, made a last „SayingGoodbyeTrailer“-Roomtour and went to the house. The evening was cool. We had an amazing dinner together (thanks to Liesa) and a good evening. Finally I went to bed. I already love this bed. ( hours later my alarm went on and I got up.

Tuesday: This day might be the day oft he week, where I´ll experience the most. 8 am. I was ready to leave. Debbie said she would need 15 more minutes. I said: „Ok, hurry up. I don´t want to come late“ – „NO, you won´t. 8:15 am, we left the house and Debbie drove me tot he bus station in Newcastle. I went tot he bus, wanted to go inside but of course…. „Soory boy, this bus will leave at 9:30, the last one already left 10 minutes ago.“ I was like…OMG Debbie-what did u do? why the hell couldn´t u come on time. However, I went to Tim Hortons, just across the street, drank a coffee and waited until 9:30. After a cool and my first stay at Tim Hortons ( i d understand why canadiens love it so much) I went tot he bus and we drove to Oshawa. From Oshawa I took the „Go-Train“ at 10:40 to Toronto. Finally I arrived in Toronto at 11.30 am.

I went out of the Union Station, a building which looks beautiful, but I already saw other train station which are more beautiful. However, my first view directly goes up tot he enourmous buildings. One skyscraper next to the other. Obviously, Union Station is directly in Downtown. Perhaps, people knew when seeing me, that I´m a tourist. I went on google Maps and was looking where I can go, because doing a bit sightseeing would be great, because I almost got 2 hours until I had to be at the airport to get my work permit. So first of all, I went tot he CN Tower. Maybe some of u k, that you can book a tour in the CN Tower. You´re driving 250 meters up and you can do something like a walk on an outside platform. Just go tot he internet and have a look. Then u k what I mean. I wanted to do that, but because of Covid the tower is closed. F*cking Bullshit!

„Ok, don´t be sad Tom“ – I told myself. So I went on tot he Harbour. Took some nice pictures and went through Downtown. I saw the new and old City Hall, the stadium of the baseball club, the CN Tower and other gorgeoues stuff and of course a lots of Skyscrapers. I´ve to tell u a funny story. When I arrived at the airport on 5th october, I didn´t find my luggage. I was the last person who didn´t have his luggage. I was like „OMG, how the hell ist hat even possible – after a long travel, I won´t have my luggage, for Fuck saying“. But then there was this portugesian men(also a Work&Traveller who´s might be around 26 years old), who told me where I can find my luggage. And thanks God. It was there. Today I´ve been at the New City Hall, took the picture with „Toronto-Logo“. Guys, quickly think, who made that photo. Absolutley correct. I saw a men standing in front of the city hall with a dog. Then I remembered his face. It was the guy from the airport, who helped me. I had to laugh. I mean, is it even possible finding this men at the same time, at the same place in a city with approx 4 mil. Inhabitants. However, weh ad a quick talk, went togethedr down the road and he told me his plans. Well, I thaught making new friends or getting to know new people in Canada would be much more harder, especially cause of Covid. After this awesome meeting, I went to Subway (greetings to Finn, my second Sub in my life – the same one, like at my first time) and ate my Sub directly in Downtown. It was almost 13:30, so I went to union Station, took the UP (Union-Pearson) Express to the airport. I waited one hour at the airport at CBSA (Canada Border Service Agency) and finally I´ve got my work permit. I was so happy. The Border Officer didn´t want to see anything from me. Not my POE, my job offer or something else. He just gave it to me. This might be, because I´m so handsome. Then I went back to Union Station, from there with the U-Train to the appartment of Debbie and Shain. Directly in the centre of Toronto. I met Sandra there (she already went together with Christa on Monday to Toronto and slept in the appartment). The appartment is beautiful. It´s perfect for two people. It´s in the 8th floor. You´ve got a cool view over the City. Not Downtown, but at least the Skyline of Missisauga. Sandra and I went to a Thrift Shop(that is something like a „Second Hand Shop“, a drug market and we ate something at a mexican restaurant. Delicious! After that we went back to the appartment (btw the appartments adress: 400 Walmer Road – for everyone, who would like to have a look on Google Maps), met Christa and drove back to Port Hope. While driving we saw Toronto by night. Cool as well. But I will defnintly come back tot he city after my farm stay. And then for 1 or 2 weeks. Couchsurfing, AirBnB or something else form my stay. We arrived at Port Hope at 21:30 pm. A cool day-looking forward to the next days. Especially tomorow, because I will have my day off there. All in all I´m happy when I will be able to travel through this amazing country with his amazing cities. Let´s see what the next dayy will happend😊

Wednesday: I had a day off. Talked to Mom and Dad. Nothing more. Rainy shitty day.

Thursday/Friday: I learned how to handle the gate. Well, welcoming guests, asking them some Covid stuff and farm things. Easy and simple. Together with Laurel, a 73 year old women – had a nice talk with her. Got some great infos and experiences from her. Looking forward to meet her again. Then I´ve been together with our cock Eric in the kitchen. Diswasher, Sous Chef. Painted a wall later. And some other farm stuff. Nothing special.

Saturday: Some basic farm stuff, kitchen in the Café, gate… Then we had a nice walk abolut 8km. There was one special thing. We found a cat, who was injured. Luckily we found the owner of the cat and hopefully he will take care of her. At the evening I had to cook for 8 people. The first time in my life that I´ve cooked for 8 people. I made pasta (I mean what is easier than pasta fort he first time) with mixed salad and a tomato sauce with vegetables. Some salt, pepper and other stuff and there we go. Everyone said that it was delicious. I mean simple and easy but I think I´ve done my job quiet good. Hopefully xD

Sunday: I had to empty the „black tank“ (this is the tank in the trailer where all the poop and pee comes in) – horrible. I Think I´ve got a good smell, but other people on the farm didn´t have the same opinion. However, I was in the Café, at the gate and had some other basic stuff to do. Ohhhh, one thing: I made Goat Yoga with Kim-this was funny. Never done that before, but defnintly a cool experience. If someone of you would like to do it…just come over, you won´t have to pay for it. I will take care of it😉 Within 2 seconds it was almost 15pm and work was done. Next week over. I´m already three weeks here in Canada. Unbelievable. It is still cool and I´m making a lot of new experiences.

Take care. And please think twice when you´re going out. The number of Covid-19 infections is increasing every day in Germany. Stay safe and all the Best.

Tom

Bella – “die Namen passen überein“

Second week update:)

Hey People Reading my blog, hopefully everything is good for all of you home:) I wanted to give u a quick update ASAP. So here it is. The weekend was cool. A lot of people came to the farm to do Smurggle or Knuffle or just to walk and hang out with the animals. Knuffle means they’re doing a walk about 1 hour with the goats. Smurggle means the same, just with alpacas. Of course because I’m officially in quarantine I wasn’t allowed to go with them, working at the Cafe or at the gate:( but I had some stuff to do in the garden, I built a chair and I d k the English word, but in Germany we call it “Dosenwerfen”. Because we’ve got a lot of activities like Ring toss, tic tac toe and now “Dosenwerfen” on the farm. Maybe I will upload some pictures the next few days.

Monday: Nothing happens on the farm. I was stuck in the garden. A lot of things had to be done. Hopefully I’m getting rdy a Tuesday. Monday was THANKSGIVING in Canada, that means nothing was opened, Debbies Family came to the farm until 4 pm. I didn’t do a lot this day. Afterwards, we went on a long walk (about 8 km), took some nice pics. In the evening Sabine cooked for all of us. Thanksgiving means Turkey:) Turkey was delicious, but it wasn’t so much. Further I would have been happy to be with the other in the house while dinner, because getting to know canadian Thanksgiving Culture would have been amazing! But Happy to take part in Thanksgiving of Canada.

I’m looking forward to my last six days in quarantine. Hopefully I can do some cool stuff the next days. And then Sunday last night in the trailer.

Tuesday: Today I started like always with the alpaca shores. After that I went to garden, doing some stuff for Debbie and took at 12 a mid-lunch-Break.

But I don´t want to write all the time the same stuff in my blog like, woke up, breakfast, alpaca chores, some other stuff on the farm, had a nice walk, chilled with the other and went to bed. So because I´m in quarantine and can´t do other things or leaving the farm, I can not tell you something special. For that reason I will skip the boring days and just let u k if something really important happens.

Thursday: The Weather was horrible, so we build a „Dosenwerfen“ like all the German know from the „Kirmes“ – it works quiet good. The Rest of the day wasn´t cool. Because oft he weather I sit in the trailer from 15:00 until bedtime. BORING! Besides, the day would not have gotten any worse. The gas in the trailer was all gone, so I won’t have any heating until I move into the house. Freezing cold at night. I’m lying here with three blankets and full of clothes.

Saturday: Saturday was cool. I was allowed to help Marc (a worker on the farm) to clean the horse paddock from excrement and everything else. Many would say, what is cool about it. Well I was allowed to drive such a fat tractor. On Instagram I uploaded a photo or video of it. In general the activities were great. When the weather was nice I took an online test for a dual study in the evening. Afterwards we had dinner. Special feature: We all ate together in the café because it was Laurel’s (a worker on the farm) birthday. I was allowed to eat at an extra table, isolated from the others, well, not so nice. But only until Monday 🙂

Wednesday, Friday and Sunday were boring as well. Or I cannot tell you something special. Just the basic things. Now it´s Saturday evening, I´m writing on my blog. Finally the next two night will be the last ones in the trailer, then I can get into the house. I´ll have my own room, have to cook once a week. I´m just happy to leave the trailer behind me😊

So this was my second post in Canada. Next week I´ll be able to tell u something more. For example my two days off, one day in Toronto and of course other farm work. Because I am out of quarantine. YES!!!

So see u soon guys. Love you all.

Your Tom

My first days in Canada:)

Dear Family, dear Friends,

finally I´v arrived in Canada. I just wanted to give you a quick Update About my first days on the farm, my every day schedule, my Arrival, and other stuff. I will put in front of every section some bold Text, which says what this section is About. So for all of you, who just want to read About my Arrival, or my Trailer or whatever. There you go:)

Currently it´s 2.48 am in Germany, so all of you might sleep, instead of People like Finn W. or the Party People like Pauline, Anna-Lena (just because of our “Abitur-Zeitung”). Today is Thursday, 20:50 pm.

ARRIVAL: I flew on Monday from Düsseldorf to Lisbon. This Flight was quiet good, there haven´t been a lot of People in the ariplane. When I walked in, I was like “OMG, Corona is effecting every part of cultural and Business life, but I was happy because I had enough space for my whole Body, but especially for my legs. Finally after three Hours I´ve arrived at 18:00 pm in Lisbon, I´ve got 2 Hours until my Flight to Toronto started. i went to a calm place, I ate something, then I had a second time Passport Control and cause of Covid, the staff checked Fever at the gate. However, 20:00 pm, Tom is sitting in the plane… Direction: Toronto. The airplane to Toronto was like the airplane to Lisbon. Maybe 50 People in there. I had three seats for myself. This was so cool, because I was able to Sleep while flying. The Stewardess asked me just after my “Power Nap” – “Excuse me Sir, what would you like to eat and drink – we´ve got chicken and pork?” My answer: “Chicken with Rice and an Astra please – and do you have as well a HansenRum (Grüße an alle die schon einmal im Silbersack in HH gekokst haben;)) – Of Course I didn´t said that, but I´ve got another beer. The Food was OK – I think you don´t have to say a lot About Airplane-food xD. After 8 Hours and 13 Minuteswe´ve landed. By now it was 23:00 pm local time. I just wanted to pass the Immigration Office for my visa and then grab my luggage, but of Course something goes wrong. The Border Officer told me that he can´t print my Work and Travel Visa because of technical issues. I was like ” Shut the F*ck Up, Give me my Visa, I take my cab, go to the farm and into my bed” – So now I have to come back to Toronto-Airport after my Quarantine… Neverless, I´ve grabed my luggage, ordered an UBER and went to the farm. The UBER Driver was so nice, he came from India, we talked the whole drive. After one hour we arrived at the farm at 2.23 am. I´ve called Sandra, a Wwofer, she came out and showed me everything. Finally after my short 10 minutes Show, I went into my Trailer, where I will pass my quarantine for the next two weeks. The Trailer is quiet good. The bed is cuddly and soft, I´ve got a kitchen, a bath and a Corner to sit ( Currently, while writing, I sit in this Corner). So, the Trailer is OK for two weeks. However, I went into the Trailer, droped all my stuff and went to bed. I was so tired. Even so, I was so tired, I woke up at 7:00 in the morning. But this is where the first farm day begins. You can read it right away. As written above, pay attention to the Bold Letter. But before that I have to write something. The hardest Thing of this day hasn´t been the space in the airplane or the arrvial, the Trailer or the Point hat I didn´t get my visa. The hardest thing on this whole day was the in-flight, which I won’t see my friends and family for more than 8 months now, especially in relation to my parents. Saying goodbye at the airport was so difficult. My parents were as bad as I was. But I had tried to express so little of my sadness because I thought it would be so easy to say goodbye. According to the motto Quick away… Anyway… that was the worst. In this sense @Mama @Papa I love you and look forward to our reunion all the more. Looking forward to a time in Canada now, I’m looking forward to everything. But now enough with the emotion. Next section.

My first days – Tuesday until Friday: So like I already said, It was 7:00 am, I woke up and was like ” WTF – that´s not possible, how the hell Can i be awake.” After a Little breakfast, I started a walk on the farm to check out everything. I´ve met Cora(28), Lisa(20) and Lina(18), three other Wwofer. They are nice and I´m happy to have some People to talk to. Probelm is they don´t like Talking. So it´s something like a ONE_MAN_SHOW:) But that´s not a Problem, because we´ve got Sandra. Sandra Comes also from Germany, Stuttgart, she´s 30 years old and so cool. She likes Talking a lot. Furthermore she´s already since 8 months in Canada and saw a lot. For that reason I love Talking with here, because she can give me some advices About what I can do or what I should do in my year abroad. After my Little walk I got to know Debbie and Shain, the owners of the farm. They are sympathetic and a Little smanded. After a short talk, I had my first Task. I wanted to do something, because it would be boring, sitting all the time in the Trailer. So I was allowed to go out of the vegetable bed for dinner, pick up some vegetables. First Job done, I was like ” Hell No, this took me just 20 minutes and now the day is still not over – what should I do the next 9 Hours. But this wans´t a Problem. Christa, a 50 year old mother from Germany came to Canada one year ago and would like to get permanent resident, gave me a lot of Things, which have to be done. So, after this, work was done and it was already 5:00 pm and the day was over. Then I´ve ate something in my Trailer, checked social media and went to bed. Wednesday: It was 5:00 in the Morning and I wasn´t able to sleep anymore, for that reason I went outside with a hot tea, some breakfast and enjoyed the sunrise. It was Incredible. People on the farm told me that sunrises in Canada, especially in Winter would be amazing and so much better than in Germany. So now I´m waiting for some other spectacular sunrises in Winter. However, 3 Hours later, my work started. Christa gave me my schedule. I had to feed the alpacas, clean up the tool room, paint some signs, build a wardrobe for Shain and a lot of other Things. So because of the work which I had to do, the day was so fast over. I had between my work a hour lunch-break, where I ate something. Finally we went on a walk together with Bakiri and Arya (Greetings to all “Game of Thrones”-Fans), two dogs, who are so georgeus. The walk was quiet good. After our walk I ate something in the Trailer, chilled afterwards with some other Wwofer and went to bed. Yesterday, I woke up, and the day was, from the course of the process, the same. At the afternoon we made a Long walk, took some nice pics, while sunset. Then Sandra went to the store, and brought me some groceries. Chips, beer, coke:) I was so happy being able to drink something else than water for 4 days. I ate Broccoli, some pork and other delicious Food. At the evening we sit in front of the Trailer together with Sandra, Lina and Cora:) We drank something together, told stories and looked at the starry sky. I’ve also seen several shooting stars. Around 10 p.m. it was already so dark that the coyotes came out and you could see them just 100 meters from the farm and hear them. But we don’t have to be afraid, because Arya and Coonan would drive out the coyotes and if they got too close, they would be crushed. After this exciting and cool evening I went to bed. Friday: Get up, my daily morning routine: Feed alpacas, remove the shit and the hay and then start the day. Now I sit at noon, eat something and write on the blog. Follow again. It is in this spirit that I must now continue to work. My next post post I will upload the days or next week. Until then, like to write to me on WhatsApp, I’m happy.

Your Tom

just 4 days, 11 hours to go

First of all this post won´t be so long. I just would like to find a place or something else to express my feelings. On the one hand I´m sooo happy to be able and allowed to fly to Canada, I´m looking forward to it, of course. Maybe I am one of hundred of persons who´s able to do his “Work and Travel year”, cause of COVIDE-19. On the other hand I´m a bit afraid, of course, and further also sad not to lose my family and friends, but that I won´t see them for the next approx 9 months. This will be supported by things like a farewell party or a really great, loving or in the words of the person “humorous, spontaneous, hardworking, smart, inspiring, extremely committed, charming, open, invigorating, passionate … letter. But the rest I keep closed, because that is something between us xD most of you won´t be interested in this message, but I had to post it. I will fly on 5th october at 16:00. I think I will give an update on my blog when I´ve arrived in Port Hope, hope so ASAP 😉

Merci 🙂
